The night, a vast canopy of it, over a once loud, bright village. All of the rides had been shut down for the night, and the lights were dim upon the twisting, turning lamps. Cold was seeping through, brushing away the warmth that once occupied the air. It took all Yaamon had not to shudder. The minuscule amount of fur covering the Lesser Type Digimon helped to ward away a little of the wind's wrath. But, it was not enough. Right now he wished that he'd been born a Labramon. "Why the heck am I waiting here, anyway?" he muttered grumpily. "Just because I felt the need to come here, doesn't mean that I should stay here. Jeez, what is wrong with me?" He spat on the floor and shifted position a little.
Suddenly, a burst of green and yellow flames came shooting down from the empty black sky, landing in spectacular display close to Yaamon. He shuffled backwards, his moss green eyes growing wide.
Silently, the foreign element faded away. In it's place lay a figure. "A... human?" Yaamon murmured, pulling himself closer. "Is that what I was waiting for?"
The figure groaned and raised its head.
"Ugh, where am I?" Mia muttered pushing herself up into a sitting position. "This... is definitely not my room."
Yaamon stared, and stared, and stared, until finally he decided to move. He bounced over to the teen, his gaze boring into her own.".... Welcome."
"Whoa! What the heck?" Mia scrambled to her feet and stared open-mouthed at the spiky-eared head-thing that... sat before her. What in the hell is that?
"Yeah, hi. I take it your my partner? I'm Yaamon, well, that's my species name, but whatever."
The redhead slowly raised a hand and pointed at the creature. "...Head. You're just a head."
Yaamon rolled his eyes. "I. Am. A. Digital. Monster. Not a head." Seriously, was this girl for real?
Mia blinked. "... Digital? Like, as in, computer digital?"
"Erm, yeah, I guess. This is the Digital World. Welcome, and stuff."

Not too far away from Yaamon and Mia, a similar light show soared through the air, landing with a thump. The reaction, much like the blanket of night that was laying upon the village, was mostly silent, except for the shuffling of a tiny, feather-covered Digimon as he neared the figure left in the wake of the flames. The thing--a human, he assumed--seemed to be a giant to the miniature chick. The Small Digimon Type moved closer to it, and the figure sat up, its massiveness increasing.
Ezio rubbed his head and looked around himself, blinking once, then twice as he tried to take in his surroundings. He had no idea where he was, and he didn't like it. His hair fell past his bangs and he pushed it up, looking for Seth, the last person he remembered. He couldn't find his brother in arms anywhere, and groaned.
He was in a new place, and he had no idea how he had arrived there. To top it all off, his friend was nowhere to be found. A vague memory involving a program written by Seth was active in the very back of his mind, but he wasn't able to see it in high detail. All in all, the memory was worthless, at least at that point.
Ezio's eyes fell upon what appeared to be a compact baby chicken, sporting a mohawk that combined with its tail-feathers. "Wha...? What are you...?" The groggy, worn out teenager asked, holding his throbbing head in his hands.
"H-hi." the shy, small, weak Chicchimon muttered, "I'm...Chicchimon... Are you a human?" He asked quizzically, staring at the giant thing.
"Ah, yes. I am. That's..." Ezio blinked. "Wait. Did you just talk to me?"
"Yes... Yes I did!" Chicchimon, noticing how clueless the human was had a growth of confidence and inhaled deeply, puffing up proudly. "I'm a Digimon!" Ezio laughed.
"What are you laughing at?!" Chicchimon demanded, glaring at the human. "I'm a powerful, majestic Digimon!" He puffed out, and the resulting air pressure pushed Ezio backward.
Ezio simply continued to laugh, sitting up again. "You're a chicken with a mohawk, and you can puff up like a ball. You're adorable; whatever you are." He patted Chicchimon on the head. "I think I'll grow to like you. We'll see, I guess." He shrugged his shoulders.
"And you're supposed to be my partner!?"
"Partner?"
"...I'll explain later, I guess. First we should find someone else, I guess." Ezio shook his head and Chicchimon glared at him. "Why are you shaking your head like that?!"
"Because. I am not moving from this spot until you give me some form of answers, or I will whoop your candy-ass up and down this tiny little place!"
"That's not what I wa-"
"It doesn't matter what you want!" Ezio stated loudly, stealing a few catchphrases from one of his many idols on television, the Great One, the Brahma Bull. The Rock. Yep.
"Fine! I'll tell you a little bit, okay? What do you wanna know?" Chicchimon just wanted this guy to shut his face at this point. Who picked the partners around here? He must have missed something.
"I want to know what a 'Digimon' is, and then I want to know what I am. You already promised me you'd fill me in on the other stuff. And I'm gonna hold you to that."
"A Digimon is a Digital Monster. I'm not just a chicken with a mohawk. Don't call me that again. And you're in the Digital World."
"Digital. Like...say, computer programs and stuff?"
"I guess so."
"Dammit, Seth."
"Seth?"
"Friend o' mine. Where are we going?"
"I don't know."
"Brilliant."

Mia blew back the strands of hair that fell over her face in short curtains, and raised an eyebrow at the small creature. "So... How come you talk?" she asked, trying to break the silence that now developed between them.
Yaamon scoffed. "How do you talk?! Like the hell I know, I just do, okay?" he snapped, glaring daggers at the girl.
"Okay, okay! I was just asking," she said waving her hands in front of her like small shields. "Well, since I've got no other option but to ask... Where do we go from here? I'd prefer that we left this," she glanced around, "freaky place behind."
"Right, like I'd now where we go from here... I just came here straight from the damn nursery so I've no idea-"
"Wait! You're only a baby?" Mia interrupted him, her jaw once again dropping open in surprise.
"No, I'm not!" Yaamon snapped. "I've been around for awhile..."
"That means... Hmm, I think I'll call you something. You said that Yaamon is your species name, right?"
"Yea- Wait, no! I don't want a damn name!" Yaamon yelled, leaping up to look the human straight in the face. "Your stinking race call yourself whatever you want, but I don't want a stupid name like Daisy, or Squishy..."
"Zero," she said. "I'll call you Zero. My name's Mia, by the way."
The Baby Level Digimon went quiet. Zero? That sounds... quite cool."Fine, yeah, hi. Come on, let's get out of here already." He continued muttering as he bounced away, pausing only to glance back at Mia for a second. "Get a move on."
Mia sighed and a gave a small smile. This was... just so not normal. She could consider it all a very weird dream. One that was brought on by cheese, or something. But, she could faintly remember getting sucked into her television... What the heck's going on?

"Do I really have to call you Chicchimon? That's a dumb name." Ezio asked as he followed after the surprisingly fast chicken as it headed in toward the other side of town. If he would be allowed to, he'd rename it something, but he wasn't sure how the chicken would react to his suggestion. "I mean, you can't be the only Chicchimon in existence, so I don't want to call you something that...I have to call other things, you know what I mean?"
"No, I certainly do not know what you mean! Chicchimon is a great name and I share it with all of my brothers and sisters back at the Nursery!" Ezio stared at the Digimon that he had been paired up with. It was...a baby?
"Wait, nursery? You're a baby, really? Really?" Ezio sighed as he stared at the small Digimon, now realizing why it was so afraid of him in the beginning. Well, this sucked. "I can't be hanging around with no, baby, man." He folded his arms over his chest and stopped walking again, glaring at the Chicchimon.
"I am not a baby! I'm in-training!" Chicchimon yelled and Ezio smiled, and nodded. "Stop smirking like that!" Chicchimon, by this point, had decided that his partner was the worst possible one he could get, and he planned to complain to the first Digimon that he found. Of course, that could be a while. After all, Toy Town was filled more with toys than Digimon.
"Right, right. 'In training.' Sorry." Ezio was now skeptical at best, but whatever. He'd stick with the Digimon simply because he had no idea where he was. "Lead the way." Chicchimon began to walk again, and Ezio followed after his Digimon Partner.
"We'll get out of here as soon as we can, but I don't know where we're going. Just out of...curiosity, do you have your Digivice yet?"
"...my what...?"
"You don't know what a Digivice is?"
"...no. I do not."
"Not fair. I don't want to explain that too!" Chicchimon groaned and glanced back at Ezio.
"Are there any other humans around here?" Ezio asked, wanting to meet someone who wasn't a chicken decked out with a mohawk.
"I don't know. Maybe we'll see someone, maybe we won't. We might be alone for our whole trip!"
"Alone with you; and I have to call you Chicchimon?! I'm not calling you that." Ezio was adamant in his want to not call the Digimon by his species name, not thinking it was fair to either of them. After all, he would not like people calling him 'boy,' or 'human.'
"...well, fine. What did you have in mind?"
"How about...Leon? That sounds like a cool name for a chicken with a mohawk!"
"Leon, huh?" Chicchimon stopped for a minute, considering it before he shook his...head. "I don't think so. Too close to Leomon."
"Who?"
"Another Digimon."
"Oh. Griffin?" Ezio wasn't great with names, but he really liked the sound of Griffin. The way it rolled off the tongue made the teenager believe that it would be perfect for the Digimon.
"Griffin...? Griff...in." Chicchimon nodded and looked up at the giant Ezio. "I like it. But what's your name?"
"It's Ezio."
"That's a fun name!"
"I suppose."

"So, how far does this place stretch? Will it take a while to get out?" Mia asked, turning to stare as she and the newly named Zero walked (and bounced) past a large Ferris wheel. In the dark it looked pretty intimidating. With no glow of multicoloured lights upon its curved sides, nor sign of life within the inside of its passenger cars. Mia shuddered, and looked away.
"Probably, we'll know when we see the exit anyway," Zero replied, pausing a moment to inspect the area for movement before continuing on. "By the way... Do you have your Digivice?"
"Uhh, my what?"
"Digivice, it's a little blue device, I think. I've heard humans often arrive with them when they enter the DigiWorld."
Mia shrugged, then came to a stop to check her pockets for this so-called, mysterious, 'Digivice'. She first took her left, finding nothing but a few toffees, her tiny, blue mobile phone, and fluff, then her right. "Oh," she exclaimed, pulling out a palm-sized squarish shaped object, "is this it?" She lowered her hand, tilting it a little in order for the Yaamon to see.
He lifted his 'head' and studied the thing. "... Yes, that's it." He dropped to ground again, and gave a sigh. "Come on. I think I can hear footsteps a little ahead, from what I can tell they don't smell dangerous." With that, Zero continued on his way.
"Oh..." Mia slowly curled her fingers around the Digivice, her gaze still upon it, then she shook her head and stuffed it back in her pocket. "Right. Wait, you can smell danger?" She picked up the pace a little to keep up with the surprisingly fast moving critter, her expression questioning.
"... Yeah, I guess, now shut up and walk."

"So what's a Digivice?" Ezio asked, looking down at the small Digimon in front of him. After all, if he knew what it was, he might be able to check and see if he had it on his person. "Actually, never mind; I'll just check my pockets." Griffin glared at Ezio, offended at the way he asked a question and then cut him off before he could answer. Ezio's hands slipped into their respective pockets, and he felt around. Right pocket...iPod, phone. Both of those things he'd expected to find. Left pocket...oh, something different?
He pulled out the thing that he'd grasped and looked at it, blinking a few times. What was this? "Is this the Digivice, or whatever you were looking for?" He asked, holding up the bluish, rectangular device so that Griffin could see it. The Chicchimon stared at it for a few minutes, then 'nodded.'
"It is!" He exclaimed, glad that he'd actually found his human partner. "Great!"
"What does it do?" Ezio asked, and this time it was Griffin who looked questioning at his companion. The Digimon had expected the human to know what to do, and since he didn't, Griffin was not only surprised, but also disappointed. He'd expected to meet his human and Digivolve soon afterward. It appeared that it wouldn't be going that way though. "Don't look at me like that, it's making me nervous. You're supposed to know all of this stuff, not me."
"Well, you see, Ezio, that's the thing. I don't know what a Digivice is for. It isn't exactly something we get taught during our time in the nursery..." Ezio groaned and Griffin looked up, hearing footsteps. "I hear something. They don't seem...evil. At least from what I can hear."
"Wait, you can hear evil? Awesome." He shook his head in disbelief and Griffin glanced at him.
"Yes, now shut up, they're heading this way."

As they continued along in the dark in almost complete silence, except for the soft thump of Zero's body against the brick and the clump of Mia's large black boots, the road before them seemed to grow larger. It extended outwards to reveal more rides and the occasional large toy slumped against the fence. It was like being in one big wide maze, except there was only one direction to it. The shadowed scenery never seemed to change. Until...
"I think I see someone..." Mia muttered leaning forwards, "in the distance, there!" She swung her arm up and jabbed a finger forwards. Further ahead stood a figure, a pretty tall figure... "I think they're alone," Mia added, but gave a frown a second later, noticing that there some kind of blob thing by the silhouette's side. "... I... Wait, is that a person?"
"What, you mean that little shape?" Zero replied, taking a small hop forwards and staring at the thing. "No," he finally said with a shake of his whole-entire body, "that's a Digimon, I'm sure of it- Hey wait! What are you doing?! Get back here!" Zero snarled dashing in pursuit of the redhead who'd suddenly decided to run off.
"You said you could smell that they weren't dangerous!" Mia yelled back over her shoulder. "I'm just going to say hello! Maybe they know what's going on here!"
"Stop shouting, you twit! They might hear!"
"I think they've heard us, " murmured Mia, slowing to a jog as the figure came into view, then stopping entirely as she run out of air.
"Stupid idiot..." was all that could be heard from the darkness behind. Soon after, a small spiky-eared head appeared and halted beside his supposed 'partner'. He seemed as healthy as he'd started, fur on end, and shivering, but not breathless. Nope, he was fine.

Ezio frowned. He wasn't the only human here, he could see that now. However, the only other human was a tattooed child. At least, she looked like a child to him, but maybe he was just tall. Alternatively, she could be a Pygmy. Never know. He waved, then looked down at the girl's side. Another Digimon, huh? Hopefully that one would know more than his did.
"Hi." He said simply, giving a small wave to the girl. He hoped that she was as clueless as he was, or else this would hardly be fair. It was time for him to start asking questions. "Do you have any idea what the Digital world is? Griffin here won't tell me much more than what he already has..." Griffin's face fell in reaction to his partner blaming his ignorance on him.
"That's not fair! I was going to tell you eventually! You just had to wait. But noo! You had to be impatient and go and blame it on me. Besides, I'm not the one that doesn't know how to work his own Digivice!" The Chicchimon pushed into his partner leg; tickling the big man. Ezio giggled and then Griffin bit him.
"Ow! Don't bite, that's not cool!" Ezio swung his leg a few times to throw the mohawk'd chicken off of his leg. Griffin huffed and turned to look at his fellow Digimon. It appeared that he was a Yaamon. Interesting.
"Hi." Griffin stated to the Yaamon, waving his head to him. "I'm Griffin."
"Biting is still not nice." Ezio said, folding his arms over his chest as he looked down at the Digimon. "Seriously, I don't think that was called for at all." He sighed, then looked back at the small girl, deciding that it would most likely be a good idea on his part to introduce himself.
"I'm Ezio, my friend here is Griffin. We're lost, he won't tell me where we are, and I don't know how to work my Digivice. It just looks like a watch to me. Is that what it is, Griffin? A watch?" Ezio looked down at the Digimon, who groaned again.
"Absolutely not! That's not what it's for!" Griffin resisted his urge to bite Ezio again, and Ezio shrugged, as he waited for the answer of their new companions.

"Uh... Hi, I'm... Mia. It's, er, nice to meet you," she said waving halfheartedly, suddenly feeling that horrible slow closing up of the throat that followed that familiar shyness she'd become accustomed to. Maybe it was because this guy was just. So. Tall. Or maybe it was just to do with the fact that she couldn't interact right with others. Huh, it's funny how I can talk fine with a head-thing... But not people, she found herself thinking.
"I've no idea what the Digivice does either," she added, pulling the aforementioned object back out of her pocket and staring at it. "It does look... kinda' like a watch..."
Zero turned to the Chicchimon, his ears twitching a little. "Yeah, hi," he replied. "Supposedly I'm called Zero."
As he spoke, Mia too continued talking, "I think the Digital World is to do with computer stuff... But I'm not sure." Her voice, luckily, was loud enough not to overlap too harshly with her partner's return greetings, but some of the words mixed with his short ones, making only the last sentence completely comprehensible.
"Tch, idiot," Zero muttered under his breath. "The Digital World is where all Digimon live, use your head," he told them, looking up at the pair.

"Oh, I see," Ezio murmured after Zero told them just what the Digital World was supposed to be. That was a bit of a let down, unless there was something special somewhere in the Digital World that he had yet to see. Perhaps this was the case, but he wasn't sure as of yet. He turned to look at the girl before speaking again. "It's nice to meet you too, I s'pose."
"Your name is cooler than mine," Griffin complained looking up at his partner, who shrugged his shoulders and gave the Chicchimon a look that said 'too bad.' "Well that's not fair at all." He whined, and Ezio sighed.
"It's too late to change it now, buddy. Besides, I'm sure you'll get to like it after a while. Anyway," he turned back to Mia, "I guess we should stick together? I don't mean to be cliche and all that, but it just seems like the best idea at the moment..." He shrugged. "Up to you, I guess."
"A brilliant idea," Griffin chimed in sarcastically. "Lets pair up with the people we've never met before who could possibly kill us! Blind trust is an amazing thing."
"...wow. That hurts my feelings."

[/i] Her emerald eyes shifted to the floor, where they focused upon her feet. This was starting to get a little bit odd now. Urgh, she felt a bit faint... "It's all up to you. To be honest, I wouldn't care less what you lot do," Zero grumpily said. "It would be fun if we just get the hell out of here now, I'm starting to lose all feeling in my ears."Somewhere, a boom went off and the ground began a slight tremor, which soon became more aggravated the closer the noise became. Zero turned, his mouth set in a thin line, his ears pulled straight up. "...Something's coming," he growled. "What... What could possibly be out here at this time of night?" Mia found herself asking, a gasp attaching itself to the last word that left her lips. "Something dangerous." Zero looked to the girl, his pale eyes narrowing. "Let's get out of here. Now. Before..."'Hello,' boomed a voice. 'And who are you? Isn't it a bit late for you to be wandering around my carnival? It's closed now.'The small Digimon slowly stared up and past Mia, his expression stoic. Then he sighed and shook his head. A large yellow and cream teddy bear stood behind them, his muzzle curled upwards with a kindly smile, although his dark red eyes seemed to hold a certain malevolence to them. 'Wait, are you new? Nice to meet you.' His smile seemed to broaden.[/ul]
